Therefore, determining the optimum geometry of the honeycomb monolith structure is necessary. This structure requires a high surface area for treating gases while maintaining a low pressure drop in the engine. In this book, an adapted sub-grid scale modeling is used to predict the pressure loss of square- and hexagonal-cell-shaped honeycomb monoliths. This sub-grid scale modeling represents the actual variations in the pressure drop between the inlet and outlet for various combinations of wall thickness and cell density. A comparison is made between the experimental and numerical results established in literature. The present approach is found to provide better and more comprehensive results than the single channel technique.

The research herein offers a feasibility study for a new, revolutionary type of bearing, which excludes such an external circuit; instead, it is being characterized by a self-contained lubricating mechanism. This bearing has a stationary porous bushing whose inner diameter faces the bearing clearance, while the outer one faces a wrap-around reservoir. The eccentric shaft generates pressure difference ensuring the fluid to circulate naturally between these two regions.

Water Hammer Damage To An Irrigation Cum Water Conducting System

A detailed study of the causes behind the damage of an irrigation-cum-hydro power water conducting system and it’s effects has been carried out in this paper along with an overview of the probable solutions of the damage incurred by the same.Hydraulic transient in the system due to sudden opening of the irrigation outlet has been analyzed using HYTRAN software. It is found that negative pressure develops in the water conducting system which may have damaged the conducting system. Based on the analysis, it is suggested to provide a valve on the hydro power conducting line at the bifurcation of the water conducting system to avoid the negative pressure in the system and thereby to safeguard the system from the collapse due to negative pressure.Moreover,seleting appropriate measures for protection of a pipe system is also suggested.
