Regression Analysis of Cloud Computing Adoption for U.S. Hospitals

Industrial experts agree that cloud computing can significantly improve business and public access to low cost computing power and storage. Despite the benefits of cloud computing, recent research surveys indicated that its adoption in U.S. hospitals is slower than expected. The purpose of this study was to understand what factors influence cloud adoption in U.S. hospitals. The theoretical foundation of the research was the diffusion of innovations and technology-organization-environment framework. The research question was to examine the predictability of cloud computing adoption for U.S. hospitals as a function of 6 influential factors: relative advantage, compatibility, complexity, organizational size, structure, and culture. The research methodology included a cross-sectional survey with an existing validated questionnaire. A stratified random sample of 118 IT managers from qualified U.S. hospitals completed the questionnaire. The categorical regression analysis rendered F statistics and R2 values to test the predictive models. The developed predictive models provided a clearer understanding among hospital IT executives and cloud service providers of cloud adoption drivers.

In the information system technologies cloud computing is one of the most important evolution. The attractive properties are: speed, pay as you go pattern, cost reduction and scalability. In this study has tried to determine the most important factors of cloud computing adoption. A research model was proposed that is based on TAM-DTM theory. This model was tested using the 162 customers from the FK faculty of UTM in Malaysia. The research‘s findings prove that relative factors such as cost, security and privacy are important drivers for adoption of cloud computing in banking industry. The findings of this study offer a good insight to how students perceive cloud computing and the factors that have important influence on adoption of cloud computing in banking sector.

Implications for adopting cloud computing in e-Health

Cloud computing is an emerging technology in which every services are available but still there are some limitations which are restricting its usefulness in e-Health. The aim of this thesis was to explore the limitations and find the opportunities and barriers between cloud computing and e-Health and later purpose it in the form of guidelines. Like any other systems cloud computing adoption also requires prior understanding of human perceptions; human perception can be changed through series of training, workshop and demonstration of system security to the patient, health care personnel and other stakeholders. In the context of this research work, the authors have studied the issues involved in the deployment of cloud computing, associates concerns and factors regarding adoption of cloud computing in e-Health and finally the future of cloud computing in e-Health. In order to identify and to get a deeper understanding of those issues, authors performed literature review, conducted one to one interview with associates both health care personnel and cloud computing) and finally backed up with a web-based survey from the associates for the validation of interview findings.
